In honor of “Earth Hour” I’ve prepared a shopping list to make sure that I’ll be ready for this momentous occasion. I test fired my house last night, and it just wasn’t enough light. Anybody can just flip on all the lights, but I feel that I’m called to “go the extra mile” and really show the world I care.
All of the incandescent bulbs in my house are getting replaced with higher wattage bulbs, so the measly 60 W bulbs in the closets are getting 150 W replacements. Also, I want to be sure that every light bulb works, and have plenty of spares on hand in case of an emergency. I’m breaking out the Christmas lights for the bushes and trees, and will finally be getting around to lighting the front path that my wife has been nagging me about.
A new propane tank for the grill – check! Pile of dirty clothes and dishes so I can run those machines – check. DiGiorno frozen pizza – check. A new movie to play on the home theater system – check. Fresh carton of cigarettes – check. Seven computer render farm built – hmmm, still needs some work but I’ll have it up by 8:30. Gasoline generator to power all these extra lights – check. And as the picture shows, I’m picking up some search lights to have on hand.
Boy, these environmentalists are going to be so proud of me for going all out and showing my support! Let’s all work together to make this the best Earth Hour yet. Got any other ideas?

Excellent! I think this is going to be a new annual event. Our party went off without a hitch. Sure, I had a couple of complaints about the 400 watts of lights in the bathrooms, and a neighbor called the cops on me for the searchlights, but I know that deep down in his heart he appreciated my efforts.
